Lissa Boileau, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
NY
I provide trauma-informed, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults navigating their mental health needs. Many of my patients appear steady on the outside but feel overwhelmed, unfulfilled, or emotionally stuck internally. I take time to understand the full biological, psychological, and life context before making recommendations. Whether you are seeking straightforward medication management or a deeper, more integrative approach that includes psychotherapy and holistic supports, care is tailored to your goals. Treatment is never one-size-fits-all. My focus is long-term stability and alignment so that over time, you feel steady, empowered, and increasingly self-reliant. I work collaboratively with patients who are ready to better understand their patterns and take an active role in their emotional health. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, reflective, and grounded in both clinical expertise and genuine care, so you feel seen, heard, and supported.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, intuitive, insightful but direct. As trust and rapport build, I will gently but clearly highlight patterns that may no longer be serving you. Together, we explore not only what you are experiencing, but why certain choices or dynamics continue to repeat. I believe meaningful change requires insight, honesty, and a willingness to examine what may be uncomfortable. I am straightforward when helping patients get to the core of their pain, with the goal of increasing awareness and accountability in a supportive way. Many of my patients are ready for accelerated growth - they are willing to do the work, take ownership of their emotional patterns, and create lasting change rather than temporary relief.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your initial evaluation, we will spend approximately 60 minutes together. The first portion of the session focuses on understanding your history, what brings you in now, and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past. I take a thoughtful, in-depth approach to get to the core of what you’re experiencing. Toward the end of the visit, we will review any preliminary diagnoses, discuss treatment options, including both medication and holistic approaches, and determine next steps together. If medication is appropriate, we will review options in detail, including risks and benefits, so you feel fully informed. My approach integrates both medication management and psychotherapy. I take a collaborative approach and work closely with my patients in all treatment decisions.
