What should a new client know about working with you?

I am privileged to be able to care for clients wherever they are in their mental health journey. I believe in a collaborative approach to mental healthcare, where we work together towards achieving optimal mental health outcomes. I am committed to providing compassionate care and support, and empowering clients to take an active role in their mental healthcare journey, helping them to achieve recovery, and improve their overall mental health and well being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we will go over your current mental health concerns, your mental health history to include any current or previous medications, and any previous therapy modalities used in the past. We will work together to develop your goals and plans for treatment. For new patient visits the first session is 1 hour in duration. For follow up sessions, I will continue to provide a safe non judgmental space to allow one to express themselves confidentially. We will work to develop skills and techniques to empower one to address stressors in everyday life. I will provide support for any new perspectives or breakthroughs, as well as support for the acceptance and alteration of their emotional and mental state. If medication is prescribed, I assess for efficacy, tolerability, and side effects, if any. I make adjustments or changes to the medications as necessary. For follow up visits, they typically last from 30-45 minutes in duration.

Michael -the office manager was very tenacious and compassionate in making sure I had adequate insurance coverage. He worked many hours in trying to work the Medicare system to get me entered into their system. Liza, the therapist, ?took a great deal of time gathering information from me and listened to everything I had to say. She was very thorough in her questioning. And we talked about my ultimate goals and plans for my improvement.
