Getting to know Dr. Lloyd Esene
I am Lloyd E. Esene, LLB, BL, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a graduate of Walden University's Master's in Nursing program specializing in APRN Psychiatric and Mental Health Disorders (PMHNP-BC). I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Northern Kentucky University. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor's degree from Southern New Hampshire University and an Associate's degree from Platt College North Oklahoma City. I also graduated from Edo State University in Nigeria.
Before migrating to the USA in 2000, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Law and worked as a Criminal Defense Attorney in Nigeria. I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner licensed to provide care in Texas, Arizona, Utah, New York, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington, Kansas, Idaho, Maryland, Virginia, and Alaska.
Being a psychiatric practitioner is a dream come true for me. I take great delight in helping my patients find answers and solutions to their mental, behavioral, and psychiatric health needs and concerns.
We accept commercial insurance from Aetna, Optum, United, Cigna, Medicare, and other insurances indicated on this platform. While we strive to provide services to all patients who desire our care, we do not currently see or accept patients with state Medicaid or other state-sponsored health coverages such as KanCare, AHCCCS, or any state Medicaid programs. However, we are happy to see you if you choose to pay out of pocket for your visit.
What should a new client know about working with you?

I take great pride in helping and working with my patients to find solutions to their Mental Health puzzle. For every patient, I draw up an individualized Plan of Care to take them from their state of confusion, trauma, depression, anger, frustration, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar, etc, to a state of clarity (normality), a state of stable and functional mental well-being. I listen for and watch out for those unspoken, yet loud mental pains, trauma, and darkness that becloud them to help them find answers.
I love to travel overseas and within the United States. I am huge football (soccer) fan, and I love to watch Chelsea FC of London, The Nigerian national soccer) team, the US national teams, the Mexican national team, the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING MEDICAID PATIENTS.
I conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation with my patient or with my patient and their family (if necessary), Psychiatric history, obtain the medical history, Review of systems assessment, Mental Status Examination, and their substance abuse history. Based on the responses, I can accurately formulate diagnoses of their mental illness and then proceed to discuss the best treatment options with the patient.

- I celebrate the little victories of life as a Mental Health Provider. Every day that my patients return and tell me that they have achieved improvement in their mental health struggles, and are on their way to achieving clarity of mind, is an award for me. For me, the big victories and awards are when my patients tell me "thank you" for helping them and walking with them on this treacherous mental health journey, for not judging them, but for bringing them back to their families.
