Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
CA
Hi, I'm Lori McClain, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I've been working in mental health since the late 1990s, and it's truly been an honor to support people through life's challenges. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or simply feeling overwhelmed, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and never judged. While I enjoy caring for adults across a wide range of mental health concerns, I have a particular passion for perinatal and reproductive psychiatry, supporting individuals through the emotional and hormonal transitions that can accompany family planning, pregnancy, postpartum, and other stages of reproductive life.d. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I practice from a harm reduction perspective and believe in meeting people where they are, not where they think they "should" be. I value honesty and open communication, and while I'm straightforward about treatment options and expectations, I also believe that a little humor can go a long way. We can talk about difficult things without losing sight of hope—or your humanity. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I view medication as just one tool that can support your overall well-being. If medication is part of your treatment, we'll make those decisions together, with plenty of room for questions and ongoing conversations about what's working and what isn't. Outside of work, you'll usually find me spending time with my adorable French Bulldog, Malkie, or planning my next adventure. Before entering mental health care, I spent eight years as an international flight attendant. I still love to explore! Reaching out for help isn't always easy, but you don't have to figure everything out on your own. I look forward to getting to know you and working together to help you feel more like yourself.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
