Lori Sloan, PMHNP-BC, is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in North Carolina who has been practicing since 1995. She is board certified by the ANCC in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and initially trained as a registered nurse before becoming an advanced practice psychiatric nurse. Lori earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mount Olive and her Master of Science in Nursing from Wilkes University. She has a strong ability to cultivate therapeutic relationships with patients through empathy and respect, allowing them to express concerns and worries without fear of judgment. Lori believes that mutual decision-making and treatment focused on the whole person contribute to an overall higher quality of life. With more than 27 years of diverse nursing experience, including 15 years in mental health care, she has worked in outpatient community mental health with underserved and severely mentally ill individuals, as well as in behavioral health and substance use disorder care management. Lori is an ardent advocate for diminishing the stigma of mental illness. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and friends, attending theater events, watching movies, reading, attending concerts, beach trips, and traveling.
