What should a new client know about working with you?

Your first session is focused on understanding you as a whole person, not just your symptoms. We will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where I ask about your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. This helps us identify patterns, contributing factors, and the best path forward. You can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you have space to speak openly. My goal during the first visit is to make sure you feel heard, understood, and comfortable asking questions. By the end of our session, we will: Clarify your primary concerns and diagnoses (if appropriate) Discuss treatment options, including medication and/or therapeutic approaches Create an initial, personalized treatment plan Establish clear next steps and follow-up If medication is recommended, we will review risks, benefits, alternatives, and what to expect. If therapy or skill-building strategies are part of your plan, we will discuss how those will be incorporated into your care. Most importantly, you will leave with a clearer understanding of what is happening, a structured plan moving forward, and reassurance that you are not navigating this alone.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin by taking the time to understand your concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, and treatment goals. During your initial evaluation, we’ll discuss what you’ve been experiencing and how it is affecting your daily life. From there, we’ll work together to develop an individualized treatment plan, which may include medication when appropriate, education, and supportive strategies. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring your progress, evaluating how medications are working, addressing any side effects or concerns, and making adjustments when needed. My goal is to provide thoughtful, collaborative care where you feel heard, informed, and comfortable asking questions throughout your treatment.
