Dr. Louis G. Cornacchia is a board-certified neurosurgeon who trained at Columbia College and the NYU School of Medicine, and completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He is a Fellow of both the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He also completed an in-residence joint orthopedic/neurosurgical spine fellowship at UCSD. For over twenty-five years, Dr. Cornacchia has practiced neurosurgery throughout Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and New Jersey. He has served as Chief of Neurosurgery at three hospitals: Mercy Medical Center, Hempstead General Medical Center, and Brookdale University Medical Center. From 2009 to 2018, he was a Clinical Assistant Professor and later Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He also served as a staff neurosurgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. Dr. Cornacchia is the founder of NYNNA, Apteum Spine, and more recently, the Cornacchia Robotic Spine Surgery Centers. He has authored numerous research articles in neurosurgery and neuroscience and holds nearly two dozen patents. His clinical focus is on improving outcomes for patients with complex spine-related conditions. His research is centered on enhancing the safety and effectiveness of surgery through advanced technologies. His current work emphasizes robotic spine surgery, with a special interest in treating patients suffering from persistent lower back pain following previous surgery—commonly referred to as Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS).
