Dr. Lucyna Puszkarska was born and raised in Krakow, Poland. In high school, she served as Student Council President and graduated as the top student in her class. This experience allowed her to demonstrate academic excellence and leadership skills that she continues to exemplify throughout her career. As a result, she received an honorary award from the city of Krakow for being the top student in the city. Dr. Puszkarska expressed a great deal of interest in mathematics and medicine and eventually decided to pursue her passion for medicine. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Jagiellonian University in Krakow. With a great love for children, Dr. Puszkarska specialized in pediatrics. After moving with her family to Chicago, Illinois, she chose to also specialize in psychiatry. She completed her Residency in Psychiatry at UChicago Medicine and then pursued a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UChicago Medicine Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine Hyde Park. Following her training, Dr. Puszkarska entered private practice and worked at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where she eventually became Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Chairman of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She later became the Medical Director at Riveredge Hospital in Forest Park, Illinois, where she currently works. Riveredge Hospital is a 210-bed psychiatric care facility. Dr. Puszkarska's experience in academics and leadership has brought an unprecedented level of quality to the clinical programs at Riveredge Hospital. Her colleagues recognize her for a comprehensive and compassionate approach to psychiatry.
