Luke Xavier, NP

Luke Xavier, NP

Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
CA
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and an advanced practice registered nurse licensed in CA. I work mostly with adults and specialize in LGBTQ+ psychiatric care. My approach is patient-centered and trauma-focused, which can be applied to a wide range of mental health states/conditions. I like to help patients understand how they can be empowered in their own health care and (re)discover agency in their lives. My approach I like engaging with clients who are invested in their own well-being. Showing up consistently to appointments and being open to exploring behavioral health concerns is important in showing dedication to yourself - this will make the process of medication management and therapy not only easy but also enjoyable and productive for both of us. As a queer provider, I can relate to the lack of resources available to marginalized populations, so I also want to help fill that gap. Working with people who have struggled with systemic oppression and identity formation gives my work meaning and depth - I am here to hear you, support you, and advocate for you. In my therapeutic approach, I use a combination of modalities, including but not limited to CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and behavioral activation. My focus My focus is on caring for socially vulnerable, affected populations that struggle to identify with conventional medication management providers - especially the LGBTQ+ community. My diverse employment and educational background have informed my practice model, which allows me to connect with individuals who are open to insight formation and change. I work primarily with patients who suffer from mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, (C)PTSD, ADHD, psychoses/schizophrenia, and grief.
