About Dr. Mahevish Virani
Dr. Mahevish Virani is board certified in Family Medicine and earned her undergraduate degree in human development and family sciences at The University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree at the American University of The Caribbean School of Medicine. She completed a sub-internship in family medicine at St. John Providence Hospital in Southfield, Mich., and a second sub-internship in internal medicine in Louisiana at Baton Rouge General Hospital. Her residency was completed at the UTHealth McGovern Medical School Family Medicine Program in Houston, TX. She holds certifications in advanced life support in obstetrics (ALSO), advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), basic life support (BLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS). Dr. Virani treats patients of all ages for all types of acute and chronic conditions, including diabetes and hypertension. She speaks Hindi, Urdu, and English.
Lifelong enjoyment of puzzles and mysteries prompted Dr. Virani’s career as a physician. The human body, she observes, is complex and, like a puzzle, everything fits together, forming a whole. She uses an evidence-based approach to treating her patients—taking evidence and answers from well-designed studies and combining that knowledge with a patient’s preferences and her expertise to come up with an individualized treatment plan. Dr. Virani wants patients to feel that she listens to them, that she takes her time with them, and that she cares. Those three elements are the basis of developing not only successful treatment plans, but also lasting relationships. In developing a diagnosis, she likes to spend time listening to patients – letting them tell her what’s going on – and then following with a thorough physical exam and supplemental lab tests when they are necessary.

I think it went well for a first visit. Dr. Virani was very patient with my wife (the patient) and explained a lot of things to her.
I'm surprised because it was quite a long and leisurely visit. My doctors are always busy and overworked, but maybe times have changed or this doctor doesn't have a long list of established patients.
We can't vouch for her medical expertise as there was nothing really complex about my wife's visit. Just preventative care. But we're hoping for the best.

The office staff was very nice. Ashley, Medical Assistant, was so nice and fast and made sure to ask all the right questions. And Dr. Virani is very down to earth and gave me everything I needed, I got labs, my meds, and my next steps very clear and concise. Happy I found my new PCP!

Great experience as a first timer. I barely waited to be helped when I checked in. The staff and Dr. Virani were all very friendly and helpful. I especially loved how Dr. Virani really took her time to explain my conditions with me as well as my treatment options.
