Malcolm Ekpeni, APRN, RN

Malcolm Ekpeni, APRN, RN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
NJ
I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with Psyche Wellness Group, working with adults and adolescents who are dealing with anxiety and depression, including the kind that traces back to hard experiences from the past. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Wilkes University and bring a broad clinical background to this work. I offer both medication management and talk therapy, so we can build something that fits what you actually need instead of forcing you into one lane. A lot of my focus goes toward people in communities that haven't always had easy access to quality psychiatric care. You won't feel like just another appointment here.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is calm and built around you, not a script. You always have a say in your treatment instead of being handed a plan you never agreed to. I draw from CBT and trauma-informed care, with a supportive style underneath all of it, and I adjust based on your background and what your day to day actually looks like. I keep things warm and real while still holding the boundaries that make good care work. I work with adults and adolescents, and I want every one of them to feel heard, not judged.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is low-pressure and mostly you telling your story while I listen. You don't need to have anything figured out before you get here. We start with a thorough psychiatric evaluation, talk through what brought you in and what you'd like to be different, then begin shaping a plan together. We move through your symptoms and history at a pace that feels comfortable, and I keep communication clear so you understand any diagnosis and the medication or therapy options in front of you. Treatment usually takes a little time and some fine-tuning, and that's completely normal. My goal is for you to leave feeling like you finally found someone in your corner
