Her interest in global health and skin conditions led her to seek additional training in tropical medicine and rare diseases at the Autonomous University of Barcelona from which she graduated with a Masters of Science and Tropical Medicine summa cum laude. As a resident, and then chief resident in Dermatology in Galveston, Dr. Dacso was the recipient of multiple honors recognizing her teaching and research capabilities. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology and is dual board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology, one of a handful of physicians in the country with this certification. She also has special expertise as a consulting pathologist for patients with Hansen’s disease (leprosy). She maintains her academic interest by publishing in the medical literature and serving as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. With a relentless commitment to advancement and advocacy in the field of dermatology, she holds leadership positions within the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatopathology, and the Texas Dermatological Society, and she has showcased her work at local and national meetings. Outside of the office, Dr. Dacso enjoys spending time with her husband and four children, yoga, singing, and travel.
