Getting to know Marc Pavan

I believe that meaningful change in therapy begins with a strong, collaborative relationship where clients feel deeply understood and safe to explore vulnerability. We all develop ways of protecting ourselves from pain, and while those strategies often help us survive difficult experiences, they can also leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves or the people we love. Together we'll explore those patterns with curiosity rather than judgment and work toward more secure, fulfilling relationships. My work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment theory, an approach that helps individuals, couples, and families understand the emotions and patterns shaping their relationships. Whether you lean more toward anxious or avoidant tendencies, we'll work together to build deeper understanding and more secure, lasting connections. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating relationship challenges, trauma, anxiety, depression, and attachment injuries. I am especially passionate about working with adolescents, LGBTQ+ clients, entertainment professionals, couples, and those healing from childhood trauma.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Sessions with me tend to be conversational, curious, and engaged. I’m not a therapist who simply sits back and listens—I’ll ask questions, share what I’m noticing, and help us slow down when something important is happening in the room. I also believe there’s room for humor and playfulness in therapy, even when we’re doing difficult work. You can expect me to meet you with warmth while also being willing to gently challenge you when it may help us understand something in a new way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions are focused on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying the patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be contributing to your current challenges. Together, we’ll develop a shared understanding of what is happening beneath the surface and what changes you hope to make. In ongoing sessions, I take an active and collaborative approach, helping clients explore emotions, relationship dynamics, and recurring patterns that may be keeping them stuck. Depending on your goals, our work may involve processing difficult experiences, strengthening emotional awareness, improving communication, and building more secure relationships with yourself and others. My goal is to create a space where you feel both supported and challenged as we work toward meaningful and lasting change.
