Marc Pavan, MS

Marriage and Family Therapist
307 7th Ave, Ste 1707, New York, NY
I believe that meaningful change in therapy begins with a strong, collaborative relationship where clients feel deeply understood and safe enough to explore vulnerability. My work is grounded in an attachment-based and systemic approach, with a particular focus on Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am particularly interested in helping clients make sense of the emotional patterns that shape their relationships and find new ways of connecting with themselves and others. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I am drawn to work that invites depth and emotional exploration, while remaining attuned to each client’s unique pace and experience. My approach is collaborative and deeply compassionate, grounded in curiosity and a belief that our struggles often make sense in the context of our relationships and life experiences. I strive to create an affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients and relationships of all structures and identities. I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and am committed to my own ongoing clinical growth, particularly through advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and relational approaches to healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions are focused on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying the patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be contributing to your current challenges. Together, we’ll develop a shared understanding of what is happening beneath the surface and what changes you hope to make. In ongoing sessions, I take an active and collaborative approach, helping clients explore emotions, relationship dynamics, and recurring patterns that may be keeping them stuck. Depending on your goals, our work may involve processing difficult experiences, strengthening emotional awareness, improving communication, and building more secure relationships with yourself and others. My goal is to create a space where you feel both supported and challenged as we work toward meaningful and lasting change.
