Getting to know Dr. Marcelline Girlie

Dr. Marcelline L. Girlie is a Haitian-born native of the island of St. Martin. She is a dual board-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with diverse experience in emergency medicine, critical care, primary care, and pediatrics. Dr. Girlie earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL. She then pursued both her Master's Degree in Nursing and her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA. Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and management of common and complex health and mental care problems throughout the lifespan. Dr. Girlie takes an intense approach to the care of and advocacy for the family unit, ensuring the physical and mental health of individuals are addressed regardless of their life’s journeys and stages of development. She emphasizes attention to behavior changes and the need for social and therapeutic interventions. Her practice style is integrative, including functional medicine and nutritional psychiatry. She has taught in academia at various universities and continues to educate in multiple formats about physical and mental care. Outside of her scientific calling, Dr. Girlie has cultivated a passion for fashion, which developed into a body-positive brand for the everyday curvy/plus-size woman called CurvEssentials Boutique. You will often find her educating others, motivating change, and advocating for overall health and wellness. She enjoys helping women fulfill their God-given passions out loud by encouraging them to quiet internal and external societal distractions and advocate for their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. She aims to inspire others to meet “themselves” right where they are to motivate change. Dr. Girlie is also the co-founder of Imperial Legacy, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that improves lives through the power of community.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
