Getting to know Dr. Marco Michael
Dr Marco Christian Michael, BMedSc (Hons), is a senior psychiatry fellow at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center. He completed psychiatry residency at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate in New York, USA, where he served as PGY-4 and Academic Chief Resident. Dr. Michael completed a double degree track - MD from Universitas Indonesia and an Honors Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Monash University, Australia. At Monash University he researched the sustained cognitive effects of an intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation (iTBS) protocol using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in healthy controls. Since completing medical school, he has published in peer-reviewed psychiatric journals, co-authored textbook chapters, and presented at international meetings on a range of topics, including geriatric psychiatry, psychotherapy, cultural psychiatry, community, and international psychiatry, and interventional psychiatry. Dr. Michael is an active member of the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP), American Academy of Psychodynamic Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis (AAPDPP), American Psychiatric Association (APA), Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP), and the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) – Psychotherapy Section. He is the recipient of the AAP's Resident Psychiatric Educator (RPE) Award.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Dr. Michael provides comprehensive, compassionate psychiatric care to patients ages 18 and older. Dr. Michael listens actively to the biological, psychological, and socio-environmental factors which contribute to your active problem(s). With his robust clinical training and supervision, Dr Michael is experienced in non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions tailored to address your concerns.
Due to limitations set forth in telepsychiatry, Dr. Michael currently does not offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) nor does he treat patients on multiple controlled substances requiring careful in-person physical assessments and vital signs monitoring.
