“Maggie is beyond excellent. Very knowledge and caters resources specific to my, very complicated needs. She is a great communicator, makes great use of the time, clearly understands and restates my concerns to ensure that she is meeting my needs. Best value for my money overall. Maggie is light-years ahead of the 3 nutritionists I consulted prior to her. She helped with my husband's anti-cancer needs, previously, and is my greatest resource is my own health complex health challenges right now. My most helpful resource to date.. Can't thank her enough! The world needs more Maggies. :)”

About Margaret Gartman

As a Masters Level, Integrative and Functional Nutritionist, I believe in the power of food as medicine to support my patient’s health, prevent and manage chronic diseases and support optimal well-being. Whether you are new to nutrition services or are perhaps looking to explore an integrative nutrition approach – I look forward to being on this journey with you. I offer cash pay nutrition consultations, and am also in network with Cigna, Aetna and United Healthcare for those seeking to use their insurance. I love working with my patients and enjoy listening deeply to their needs. My goal is to partner with each person to develop a comprehensive nutrition and lifestyle care plan that gets to the root of the problem, meets them where they are, and supports them through their journey to healing. This approach uses an expanded toolkit of evidence-based practices and can be used to support a wide variety of conditions- including gut health conditions such as SIBO, IBS, chronic constipation, etc; pre Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome, weight management, elevated cholesterol, autoimmune conditions, and many more. Outside of working with patients, I try to be outside as much as possible, and love going on adventures! My family and I are avid gardeners with dreams of having a land/homestead someday. Most weekends you can find me at the local farmers market or playing in the kitchen trying out new foods/recipes. I love volunteering and supporting local Farm 2 School and food-system efforts! I am in love with hot yoga and have dreams of becoming a registered herbalist! Maggie is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. She completed her Nutrition training at Appalachian State University. She is a graduate of the Duke Integrative Health Coaching Foundations Course in 2021 and an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner (IFNCP). She is now accepting new patients.

Maggie has been so supportive and accepting since day one. She has greeted me warmly during each session, and always has helpful resources on hand. She has clearly spent time getting to know me, my concerns, and my goals, as she has created a care plan that is specific to me.

Maggie has given me my life back. I could not say enough nice things about her ability to understand and her genuinely nice personality. She listened, advised, and helped me be able to get a good nights sleep, no more bloating, no more hemorrhoids, more energy and a love for food back! I had been trying for 4 years but I knew I was failing miserably bc I was NOT getting better. Maggie was able to read my testing results and helped me make sense of it all. She then lead me down a healing path while she gave me the power of knowledge, which made me have the ability to understand and keep my digestive organs running smoothly. I really cant thank her enough and would recommend her to anyone that has thought pain and discomfort was their new normal bc she turned that all around for me. Maggie helped turn my thoughts of feeling like “it must be bc of getting older” to seeing that there was things I could do about it and fix it! Thank you Maggie! I wish you all the best!
Maggie really changed the way I think about health and what I eat. She was very patient and thorough, analyzing everything about my diet and coaching me through what it meant for me long term. I feel so much better now day to day thanks to changing what I was putting in my body. Highly recommend!!!
