“My visit with Marjorie was amazing. She listened to how since my last visit I had a very bad experience at work while trying to work full time and start going to school and how stresses I am. She listened well and was empathetic. She then continued to discuss her treatment plan and every step she is taking to help me. I also brought up a option I mentioned briefly and thought she might have decided she wouldn’t do it however she surprised me to tell me that it was still in her notes to pursue at a later time after she could fix my biggest problem which she thinks might be able to not required the treatment plan I mentioned. However, she did not say that it was out of the plan. I was also able to ask many questions and not feel like she was mad or in a rush to answer them. I am very happy with my visits and feel she’s really trying her best to help me get to a place of stability and happiness. All in all I would recommend her services to anyone.”

Getting to know Dr. Marjorie Lavin
Dr. Lavin is board certified in adult psychiatry. She has been practicing psychiatry for more than 40 years. Prior to joining Talkiatry she practiced at the University of Denver Health and Counseling center for 20 years where she treated undergraduate and graduate students. She also worked at a clinic providing care to indigent patients which was also a training site for graduate psychology students. She has supervised and taught psychiatric residents and psychology trainees. She has taught seminars in differential diagnosis, alternative therapies and psychopharmacology.
She has a strong interest in functional medicine and alternative therapies. Dr. Lavin focuses on providing a comprehensive medical assessment, medication management, psychoeducation, wellness and alternative therapies. Her approach is collaborative. Dr. Lavin completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester. She earned her MD from Cornell University Medical College in New York City.
Her psychiatrist residency was at the University of Boston Medical Center. After training, Dr Lavin held clinical and administrative positions at Kaiser Permanente in Denver, CO and the Harvard Community Health Plan in Braintree, Massachusetts

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.
