I’ve had an extremely difficult time finding someone I felt comfortable with and Dr. Lazarus exceeded my expectations to say the least. He is more than understanding of his patients busy schedules and is more than accommodating with appointment times ( I work full time and a full time student) and was willing to meet me with at 830pm. He truly cares about his patients and checks up on you throughout the week. He makes the most out of the time he has with you and explores every possible resource. I’d recommend Dr. Lazarus to anyone and everyone. P.S this is the first review I have ever written but I truly felt Dr. Lazarus was worth it.

More about Dr. Mark Lazarus, PhD

Dr. Mark Lazarus, a clinical psychologist, sees patients at his three offices which are in Bayside, Queens; in Manhasset, Long Island; and in mid-town Manhattan (near subways and Penn Station). "I provide Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) to enhance your life satisfaction, sense of mastery, and connectedness with others, utilizing a warm, evidence-based, humane, collaborative manner. Therapy is not something I do TO you, but instead, a 'journey' that we take together in partnership (and sometimes in laughter). We will go at your pace and focus on YOUR goals for you. I will attempt to build on your strengths and the coping skills you already possess, and to educate you about communication, problem-solving, and stress-management tools that are new to you. I have been in practice for 25 years. Since 1992, I have split my time among three settings: (1) private practice, (2) working at three local hospitals, and (3) teaching/training. Specifically, I previously taught part-time at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. Currently, I teach undergrads through doctoral candidates (part-time) at two colleges, including Long Island University-Post. To stay current, I regularly attend professional conferences. I return feeling validated, challenged, and energized to share my new knowledge. I have also learned a lot from my patients and students over the years and hope to learn more from you." Dr. Lazarus is not in-network with any insurances. It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed.

First time to felt the urge to write a review on Zocdoc. Dr.Lazarus is definitely an excellent clinician and therapist that I have ever had.. Incredibly communicative, understanding and cut to point, unlike other therapists or psychiatrists I've had for years. I always felt stuck with my previous therapist and felt like they were holding back the insights I needed, left confused. Sadly, I had only seen him for once because I was looking for a slightly different therapeutic approach/plan but he referred me to another therapist he knows personally whom I am going to meet very soon. He was extremely helpful and willing to work with me for finding medical imaging clinics .
Dr. Lazarus is the "go to" doctor for me and my family when in need. He is always available, has flexible hour, is supportive and understanding. He always collaborates with me to find techniques that will decrease my anxiety. Years ago, I was paralyzed by specific fears but now, with the help of Dr. Lazarus tools, I now control my thoughts; my thoughts no longer control me.
Dr. Lazarus is one of the best listeners in the world. Each week I saw steady growth for two years and periodically leaps of sudden progress. I can't remember what it was like to be angry and my stress is now the good kind. He seems to have the ability to be a different person so to help me work out whatever I come to the session with. My therapy is about finding the happiness that comes from becoming a master over the fears that were once master of you. Dr. Lazarus is superb at guiding this process like a chameleon. His sense of humor is also great and is always bursting in at the right moment.
