What should a new client know about working with you?

A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is needed in order to get to know you better and to recommend appropriate treatment. I am friendly and approachable, although I keep appropriate boundaries. I am flexible and a bit of a maverick in my approach. I do not shy away from new treatment approaches, although I do tend to wait until adequate research has been published before using them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Working with me begins with a comprehensive psychiatric examination lasting about one hour. I usually recommend initial treatments then to give you immediate relief. In addition to medication management, I also conduct psychotherapy and I frequently incorporate psychotherapy into my medication follow up appointments. I use an eclectic approach, incorporating elements of supportive, CBT and psychodynamic approaches, as well as addiction therapy when indicated.
