Getting to know Marsha Charlton

As a Family and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with dual board certifications and over ten years of experience, I am dedicated to providing patient-centered mental healthcare that is accessible and inclusive for individuals from all walks of life. I hold a Master’s in Family Nursing from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston, a Bachelor’s from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and an Associate’s from Labouré College of Healthcare. My extensive background in primary care, surgical, psychiatric, and veterans' care in Boston enables me to offer a culturally attuned, down-to-earth approach, ensuring that clients feel comfortable and supported throughout their care journey. I specialize in treating a wide range of mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, sleep disorders, and addiction. Additionally, I incorporate reproductive psychiatry as a key modality of treatment, addressing the unique mental health needs related to reproductive health and wellness. My practice is committed to delivering high-quality, personalized care that is compassionate and culturally sensitive, focusing on mental, physical, and emotional well-being. In our first session, we'll introduce the treatment process, discuss your goals, and explore therapeutic approaches to build trust. If needed, medication management will complement supportive therapy. Together, we'll address concerns, set goals, and navigate challenges to promote optimal mental health.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect a collaborative approach to treatment, focusing on their individual needs after the first session. Moving forward, I provide ongoing support and monitoring to help them achieve their mental health goals. After working together, clients can expect continued individualized care, with potential adjustments to their treatment plan based on progress and evolving needs.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I went into the appointment thinking that nothing could help me with my issues but left optimistic and happy after our conversation.

I had to switch psychiatrists at the last minute because my former psychiatrist was unable to treat my dissociation. Dr. Charlton has been nothing but wonderful from the very beginning. She listens to me and makes me feel safe. I've made so much progress with her and I highly recommend her.
