Dr. Matthew Adam Spiegel is a dual board-certified specialist in Interventional Pain & Spine and Anesthesiology, dedicated to helping patients find relief from acute and chronic pain through state-of-the-art, minimally invasive treatments. As the founder and medical director of UES Interventional Pain, located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Dr. Spiegel combines advanced expertise with a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. His goal is to restore function and improve quality of life by addressing the root causes of pain with precision and innovation.
Dr. Spiegel completed his medical training at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, followed by residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, and fellowship at Northwell Health’s Spine & Pain Institute of New York. His advanced training focused on cutting-edge techniques, including spinal cord stimulation, endoscopic discectomies, and regenerative medicine therapies like platelet-rich plasma (PRP). I was sent helpful reminders about my appointment. When I arrived, I was assisted with the check in process by an incredibly helpful person (Mia). Dr. Speigel saw me at approximately my appointment time. He was personable, professional and very clearly explained my likely problem and my options. What I especially appreciated is that he was non-alarmist—very matter of fact—and did not try to push any particular treatments; he just gave me my options. I highly recommend Dr. Spiegel and his very helpful and accommodating staff.

Dr. Spiegel had a very laid back attitude as I explained my injury and concerns. The fact that he stated he did not think an MRI was necessary and suggested an epidural injection raised a red flag for me. I went for a second opinion and they sent me for an MRI and are sending me to PT. They said they don’t feel an epidural is necessary. After my visit with this doctor I felt like I did not receive adequate care. I don’t recommend this doctor especially if you are an athlete.

Despite making the appointment a few hours early for excruciating pain in my lower neck, they were not able to see me, Dr. Spiegel came out early to get me because I had arrived super early to fill out the forms. He clearly spelled out what my options were and what he thought my insurance would cover and might not cover just yet absent exhausting other options.
The shot he gave me, and the prescribed anti-inflammatory medication seems to be working for now. He also made sure to call my pharmacy immediately, and I got an alert from them that it was ready as I was in the Uber on the way home so I didn't have to wait to get it and use it. I am not big on doctors after some past bad experiences, but I truly appreciated my experience here when I was in such obvious pain.

This doctor is the best of the best. He was able to get me in for an MRI the same day and he is fitting me in tomorrow to go over the results. I have a bad back injury and his concern, interest and knowledge are all second to none! Don’t think twice about using him!

I am an active senior who is primarily in good health with a long history of back problems. Over the years, I have undergone two successful non-invasive procedures. Two weeks ago I had a flare up. I did some research and discovered Dr. Spiegel, a spine specialist. I was immediately impressed by how thorough and compassionate Dr. Spiegel was during our first meeting. After reviewing my medical history, he immediately knew how to proceed and devised a clear and effective plan for treatment. His knowledge and experience was very reassuring . Gwen, his assistant, was gracious and put me at ease right away. Samantha at the scheduling desk was incredibly kind and efficient, making the whole process seamless.Thanks to Dr. Spiegel and his wonderful staff, I feel I have truly found a gem of a specialist. The level of care, ease of getting an appointment , and genuine compassion exceeded my expectations. It’s a good feeling of confidence that Ii am in good hands moving forward.

Dr was Amazing… so was All the staff. Including Gwen! I had a herniated disc that he was able to schedule an epidural to address within a week. He was friendly, efficient, courteous and was amazing at keeping me calm (I def had the jitters!). I felt heard and seen and am grateful for the quick relief he was able to offer. Need another epidural for my lower back and can’t wait to see them again!
Don’t be fooled by the fact that he Looks Young! He’s is wise beyond his years and literally hit the nail on the head with my pain management!
He’s the besttttttttt so glad I found him as well as his amazing staff!
