Matthew Dacey, APRN, PMHNP

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
RI
I keep psychiatric care straightforward and personal. My practice is intentionally small, which allows me to get to know my patients, stay involved in their care, and make treatment decisions without unnecessary complexity. I work with adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood concerns, and related conditions. Treatment is individualized around what you’re experiencing, what has or hasn’t worked before, and what you actually want from care. My goal is simple: listen, explain your options clearly, and work with you on a treatment plan that makes sense for your life.

Getting to know Matthew Dacey

I keep psychiatric care straightforward and personal. My practice is intentionally small, which allows me to get to know my patients, stay involved in their care, and make treatment decisions without unnecessary complexity. I work with adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood concerns, and related conditions. Treatment is individualized around what you’re experiencing, what has or hasn’t worked before, and what you actually want from care. My goal is simple: listen, explain your options clearly, and work with you on a treatment plan that makes sense for your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m relaxed and practical in how I work with patients. You don’t need to know the “right” thing to say or come into an appointment with everything figured out. I want to understand what’s bothering you, what you want to improve, and what has or hasn’t worked in the past. From there, we make decisions together. I’ll give you my clinical opinion, explain the reasoning behind it, and keep treatment clear and manageable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first visit is mostly about getting to know you and understanding what you want help with. We’ll talk through your symptoms, history, previous medications or treatment, and your goals. If medication makes sense, we’ll go over the options and decide together where to start. Follow-ups are focused and practical: how you’re doing, whether the medication is helping, any side effects, and what we should change. Because my practice is small, I’m able to provide more individualized follow-up rather than making care feel like a revolving door.
