Getting to know Dr. Matthew Fan
Dr. Fan joined this private practice with the goal of providing his patients an extra level of care and compassion. He understands that every patient is different and manages treatment with that in mind; he works to get to know his patients and find the best treatment approach for each specific condition and situation. Dr. Fan's depth and breadth of clinical experience are unique, having served as a psychiatrist in emergency rooms, inpatient units, and forensic settings. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Fan's goal is to facilitate the start of a journey to recovery with every patient.

Dr. Fan was condescending, rigid, and unpleasant. He disparaged me for having tried many medications before finding a combination that worked somewhat well, and told me that he would take me off one of my medications and we would find "something else" to replace it. I've already been on everything else in that category, so there's no way I can go off it. I cut the appointment short and they better not charge me.

Incredibly happy I came across Dr. Fan. He is very compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient. He explains how the prescriptions will work down to a science which I appreciate. I felt like I was in AP Psychology again. He has a skilled intuition in the sense that he could read me very easily and knew what type of person I was.

Dr. Fan was very attentive and showed great care about my situation. I've had bad experiences with other psychiatrists that felted rushed, by the book, and felt they were generally unconcerned. Dr. Fan went through my history and was first to recommend a different pathway rather than just prescribe another medication at me.

The depth of human connection -- intellectually, emotionally, culturally, and even spiritually -- made the appointment feel like a deep delving into a Humanities course meets neuroscience and biology.
