Hi, I’m Dr Matt Pabis. I’m a board certified family medicine doctor trained in upstate New York where I learned how to do a lot on my own, and now I’m practicing back home in the city where I handle as much as I can in the office without sending you all over the city for needless referrals.
I was raised in New York City. I completed my residency in Schenectady NY. I started off working for a big corporate medical practice in Harlem, but found that it did not give me the time to really know my patients. It felt like an assembly line; 15 minutes to see one problem and move on. I didn’t want to practice medicine like that. I wanted to get to know my patients, and really understand them to make their lives and health better.
Then the opportunity to start a primary care practice in a pain management, orthopedic, and cosmetic practice presented itself and I jumped on it. I loved my time there, but it still did not feel quite like home. Even though there was a lot to learn and do, the variety of patients wasn’t there.
So I decided to move on and start my own primary care practice. I also took the position of a medical director of a psychiatric, and substance abuse clinic in the same building where my office is located.
I developed a practice where I work with my patients to help them be as healthy as they can be. I don’t push one medicine or another, I am always open to new ideas or new treatment plans, and every treatment plan is developed with you. If option 1 or option 2 don’t work for you, we can figure an option that does work.
Additionally I’m comfortable with opioid addiction therapy, medical cannabinoids, preventive HIV medication, and Vivitrol Injections. And in some occasions, I can do house calls.

Dr Pabis and his office staff are simply the best! In 36 years in NYC I never had a more kind, generous and detailed Dr visit. Usually when you are at a Dr's office, you always forget something you wanted to ask about; not here though. Dr Pabis puts you so at ease, and listens and advises so confidently that the energy and attentiveness passes right back to you. He cares, he listens, he figures out what is best, and then heals. If I could give 10 stars, I would!, And they did the blood work and Covid test in the office so no need to run any other place. run to this office; it's simply the best!

Seems odd to review a doctor, but honestly Matthew Pabis deserves all the good publicity he can get. I have full faith and trust in this man, he's extremely well versed and is always a pleasure to meet. I never feel stressed, and really enjoy his company (if that's not a weird thing to say). I've never met a doctor who gets this mix right, but you're in GREAT hands with Matthew.

The wait time is well worth it for the visit, as Dr. Pabis genuinely cares for each of his patients, and spends as much time as needed with each person. I'd gladly wait to see Dr. Pabis knowing that he will give me full attention and will give a very thorough and very thoughtful appointment.

Excellent physician--interested in the "whole person" and takes the time to provide options, listen to concerns and offer individualized advice. Stays current with the research and uses evidence to make recommendations. While the office does not look high tech at all, he does use technology (apps/etc) to communicate and the office is flexible with appointments.

Aside from waiting time, Dr. Pabis is an excellent physician. I'll take the waiting time because I know when he sees me, I will be given all the time I need to express all my medical wants & needs. He's totally worth waiting for. He's busy because he's a great doctor. Again, I'm happy to wait to see him because he's a real professional, plus he's a nice person. He's very personable and easy to talk to. I rate him very highly.

Too bad there isn’t an option for a 6 star review, I would actually pay a fee if such a rating existed. Dr. Pabis aka “Dr. Matt” gave me the most extensive physical/medical history evaluation that I have ever in my entire life and expressed a genuine interest in everything I had to say and provided a ton of insight into my general health. His staff is also amazing and they work synergistically with the doctor and your insurance to make everything a breeze. I don’t plan to go anywhere else so long as Dr. Pabis will continue to have me.
PS I’ve never felt compelled to write a ZocDoc review until now.
