About Dr. Matthew Paden

Dr. Matthew Paden is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon and the president of Rocky Mountain Foot & Ankle Center. He studied biology and human anatomy at the University of Maryland (1983-1987), and completed his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco in 1991. Following a 2-year surgical foot and ankle residency at Vencor Hospital (Highlands/Presbyterian St. Luke’s) in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Paden also completed a diabetic foot fellowship at the Northern California Center for the Diabetic and Insensitive Foot in 1994.
After five years as a solo practitioner, Dr. Paden joined Rocky Mountain Foot & Ankle Center in 2000. In 2005 he co-founded the Highlands Foot and Ankle Institute, an organization dedicated to excellence in education in podiatric medicine and surgery. From 1994 to 2010, Dr. Paden also held various faculty appointments with the residency program at Highlands-Presbyterian/St. Luke’s in Denver, which is consistently acknowledged as one of the premier training programs in the nation.
Dr. Paden’s passions include skiing, technical climbing, and mountain climbing. In 2008, he completed his final summit of all the 14er's in Colorado, and in 2009 motivated his five year old son Hunter up Mt. Sherman under his own power! When near the ocean, he surfs, and when exhausted, he golfs.

I had a great experience with Dr. Paden. He was very friendly and took the time to clearly explain what was causing my foot pain, along with detailed steps for the treatment plan. And when addressing my ingrown toenail, he explained both the cause and the treatment process as he performed the procedure, which made me feel comfortable and well-informed. His bedside manner is excellent.
The medical assistant was also wonderful—very kind, efficient, and gentle when administering the lidocaine shots and wrapping my foot. The front office staff made the check-in and check-out process quick and easy, and I was seen within about 15 minutes of my appointment time.
Overall, I felt well cared for by the entire team and would highly recommend this office and provider.

They took X-rays, made suggestions for therapy, made a second appointment to check on arch supports after wearing them for two months. Ordered arch supports which will take three to four weeks to get. Will turn in to insurance to see if they will pay for them.

The front desk associate was very nice and helpful and had great attitude. The staff was well mannered and communicated their role in my visit effectively. The visit overall was very quick and straight to the point. I would say allow yourself extra minutes before your appointment to fill out new patient information if you are one.

Everyone was wonderful! I felt seen and heard and my issue was cared for immediately. I’ve seen podiatrists in the past who wanted to jump straight to surgery, and Dr. Paden explained that that would be his last resort for my issue and why. I feel safe in his and his staff’s hands. Dr. Paden is great -- he really listened, took all steps to assess (took x-rays), and then was very thorough with his explanation on what was happening with my foot and the next steps we would take. He gave me a print out of my x-rays and drew on it what was happening, and then wrote down the next steps. This is what all doctor appointments should be like.
