Dr. Maytal Shalev-Eylath, PsyD

Psychologist
1000 Fremont Ave, Ste 250A, Los Altos, CA
I came to therapy first as a client, hoping to escape my feelings-only to discover the power of honoring them. If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or sadness, stuck in painful thought patterns, or struggling with emotions that feel too heavy to carry alone, I'm here to help. Life can be challenging, but together, we can create a space where healing and change are possible. I primarily use somatic, mindfulness, and compassion-based approaches. In our work together, you will learn research-backed skills to deepen self-awareness, gain insight, and build emotional resilience. My goal is to empower you to navigate life's challenges with presence and compassion, overcoming them with greater ease and grace. I am a compassionate, honest, and engaged therapist. I will work with you to make sure you are seeing personal change and growth. At times I may challenge you, but always within a safe space where you feel seen, validated, and cared for. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Sofia University, which informs my approach and commitment to evidence-based, client-centered care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe that therapy should be a collaborative and personalized experience. My approach is tailored to each client’s unique needs, but generally follows these steps: Initial Consultation – Our first session will focus on understanding your concerns, history, and goals for therapy. We will discuss what brings you to therapy and begin developing a plan that aligns with your needs. Building Awareness and Insight – We will work together to explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through mindfulness-based techniques, you will learn to cultivate greater self-awareness and develop tools for managing challenges. Skill Development and Healing – As we progress, I will introduce evidence-based strategies to help you navigate difficult emotions, build resilience, and foster self-compassion. If relevant, we may integrate somatic (body-based) practices to support emotional regulation and trauma healing. Integration and Growth – Over time, we will focus on strengthening the skills you’ve developed, reinforcing positive changes, and ensuring you feel empowered to apply what you’ve learned in your daily life. Ongoing Support or Transition – Therapy can be short-term or long-term, depending on your needs. When you feel ready, we will discuss how to maintain progress independently or transition out of therapy in a way that feels right for you.
