Mazhar Golewale, MD, is an experienced psychiatrist and the medical director of Suburban Behavioral Health Services in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
Dr. Golewale is a graduate of Al-Ameen Medical College in Bijapur, India, and completed his residency training in general psychiatry at The University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas, in 2008. He has been practicing psychiatry ever since.
He has extensive experience seeing patients of different ages, from adolescents to the elderly, and those from different backgrounds and cultures. He has also treated patients with various psychiatric illnesses like mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, ADHD, impulse control, and substance abuse problems.
Dr. Golewale is married and has two children. When he’s not working, he likes to spend time with his family, eating out, traveling, camping, and barbequing.

Our team of mental health specialists strives to improve our patients' quality of life and promote a stronger community. We treat patients holistically and educate them about their conditions. Our team routinely participates in continuing education and hands-on courses. We also routinely consult with clients' families about their collateral histories and interact with other therapists. Our mission is to offer comprehensive care that covers the physical, emotional, and social components of mental health. What is your typical process for working with clients?
Your initial assessment (intake) is scheduled for 45 minutes. During this time, the provider will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your medical and treatment history. Following the intake, we will discuss and agree upon a treatment plan that outlines your goals, recommended treatment methods, medication management, and therapy.
Depending on the provider's approach, sessions may include a combination of talk therapy, medication management, and other therapeutic techniques tailored to your individual needs. The provider may also offer psychoeducation, coping skills training, and support in implementing healthy lifestyle changes.
Please communicate openly with your provider about your preferences and goals for treatment. This will help ensure a collaborative and effective therapeutic relationship.
