Psychologist
1849 Sawtelle Blvd, Ste 750, Los Angeles, CA
Dr. Megan Beardmore is a licensed school psychologist with expertise in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults with neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, intellectual disability, specific learning disabilities), and common co-occurring challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma). Originally from Iowa, Dr. Beardmore received her graduate training at the University of Arizona where she practiced in schools and community mental health settings providing therapeutic services as well as diagnostic evaluations. During her predoctoral internship, she served as the evaluation coordinator at a K-8 school, a role that involves conducting assessments to determine special education eligibility. She also was involved in direct service provision, including the delivery of evidence-based behavioral and academic interventions. Dr. Beardmore then received her postdoctoral training at The Help Group, where she provided psychotherapy to youth with ASD, and administered diagnostic and developmental assessments for children with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders, social-emotional issues, and learning challenges. Under the supervision of Dr. Shafali Jeste, she also received training through UCLA’s Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART) in early childhood behavioral assessments and participated in the Care and Research in Neurogenetics (CARING) Clinic. Dr. Beardmore then worked in a specialized, nonpublic school where she developed a social skills program and provided coaching for teachers and parents. Dr. Beardmore draws upon a flexible, integrative blend of evidence-based and holistic interventions. She is trained in “Western” techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She also believes the key to emotion regulation is grounded in a strong mind-body connection.
