“Megan has been my therapist for awhile now and she has helped me more than I could ever put into words. She’s always professional and on time; I’ve never had to wait for my session to start. Megan makes me feel comfortable even when the subject matter gets intense. I’ve grown so much as a person since I started seeing her. I could not recommend her more if I tried! Highly recommend her services. ”

“I have been seeing Megan for several years now. She helped me work through my gender questions. After that was resolved we began working on personal growth. I am learning what is healthy and what is not. She has helped me learn coping mechanisms that are healthier than the denial, avoidance, and toxic positivity. The progress I’ve made over the past four years feels remarkable. I think it’s safe to say had I been seeing anyone but Megan, my therapy would have ended with transition. But she makes me feel safe to heal from my trauma. ”

Getting to know Megan Collins

You’ve spent so much of your life reading the room that you’re not always sure what you feel. Maybe you’re an eldest daughter or first-generation adult who learned to carry everyone else. Maybe you and your partner love each other, but ADHD or addiction has left you caught between hope, hurt, and the same exhausting conversations. Or you’re an LGBTQ+ couple looking for affirming therapy where you can simply be yourselves. My trauma-informed approach helps you understand the patterns you’ve lived with, speak honestly about what you need, and find your way toward relationships that feel like home.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is warm, honest, and collaborative. I am not a therapist who simply nods and asks, “How does that make you feel?” I will listen closely, help you connect the dots, gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and support you in taking meaningful steps toward change. My approach balances compassion with accountability, and I often use humor, curiosity, and real conversation to create a space where you can feel both comfortable and understood. You do not need to arrive with the “right” words or a perfectly defined goal. We will begin with what feels most important and work together to understand your experiences, relationships, values, and hopes for therapy. I welcome your full identity into the room and strive to offer affirming, inclusive care where you do not have to minimize, mask, or explain who you are.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start with the conflict, broken trust, or exhaustion that brought you in. Using attachment theory and a trauma-informed approach, we’ll explore how past experiences shaped your sense of safety, worth, and connection. You’ll learn to notice old patterns, set boundaries without guilt, ask for what you need, and stay present through difficult moments. You don’t need to know exactly where you’re going to take the first step. We can meet for weekly therapy or spend more time together in an extended session focused on one concern. All sessions are online throughout California. Reach out for a free 15-minute consultation or schedule your first session.

As a therapist myself, I’m pretty judgmental when it comes to finding a good therapist. I’ve had my share of therapist and Megan checks all the boxes. We’ve only ever done tele-psych but you can feel the genuineness through the screen. She’s always engaged and present and never distracted. She’s funny and relatable, which I value in a therapist. Transitioning from Kaiser therapy to private practice has been the best decision I’ve made. The flexibility, availability and check ins have made a significant impact on my healing. I’ve worked with Megan for 2 years now and have gained so much insight, awareness and validation. She has also collaborated with my psychiatrist to ensure they are communicating about my symptoms and care. I’ve also received couples therapy with my girlfriend, and we learned some valuable communication tools. If you’re wondering if you should start therapy, just start. You won’t regret it. Megan is the perfect therapist to walk alongside you in this journey.
I worked with many therapist through Kaiser and had horrible experiences. The wait time to be seen was ridiculous and I always felt rushed during session. I have been seeing megan for the past two years and she has honestly been the best therapist I have ever worked with! She is always available when needed, is reasonably priced and has flexible appointment times.
