I have over nine years of experience working in education at the middle school level and more than seven years of experience in private practice in Southern California. What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that the greatest work in therapy happens when you feel safe and have a positive connection with me. From your initial meeting, I will help you feel safe and seen so that you are able to develop deep self-awareness and a better understanding of how you function in relationships and the world around you. I will help you identify unwanted or unhealthy patterns in your daily life and relationships and I will provide you with concrete strategies to help you communicate effectively, set boundaries, and enhance your interpersonal relationships. I utilize tools from the Gottman Method for couples therapy and I am multi-dimensional in my approach when working with individuals and teens.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Typically, the first few sessions will be centered around getting to know each other and building trust. I want to understand your reason for coming to therapy and we will define and outline your therapeutic goals. From there, each session will be different based on what you need. I always like to understand what has transpired for you since our last meeting, and I will meet you where you are at in terms of what you need in that moment. For instance, do you need more direction and help with skill development? Do you need to process certain events? Do you need to practice setting boundaries or figuring out how to talk to a loved one or co-worker about a problem? Once I get to know you and we develop a deeper connection, I will also help point out any patterns of behavior that I am noticing or connections to past trauma that are affecting your daily life. I try to always come back to your original goals and make sure that you are making progress towards what you need.
