NH
I’m Megan Maska, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who provides care for adults ages 18 and up. My approach is rooted in compassion, respect, and collaboration. I believe that recovery is a team effort—you are the expert on your own life, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. Together, we’ll explore treatment options, build understanding through education, and create a plan that fits your goals and values. My goal is to empower you to make informed decisions about your mental health and help you move toward lasting wellness. I have a special interest in working with individuals who are managing mood disorders, anxiety, panic disorder, borderline personality disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). I find it deeply rewarding to help people better understand their symptoms, develop effective coping strategies, and regain a sense of balance and control in their lives. Each person’s experience with these conditions is unique, and I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to find the right combination of therapy, education, and medication when appropriate. My goal is to help each patient build resilience, improve overall well-being, and move toward a more fulfilling and stable life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

A new client should know that everyone, including myself, goes through challenges at different points in life—and needing help is a normal and human experience. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. You are not alone in what you’re facing, and there is always hope for healing and growth. Together, we can work toward understanding what you’re going through and finding a path to recovery that helps you build a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take steps toward positive change. Initial visits are typically about an hour long, giving us time to get to know each other and go over your history, current concerns, and goals for treatment. Follow-up visits are usually around 30 minutes and focus on any new or ongoing issues, changes in symptoms, and how your medications or other treatment strategies are working for you. Together, we’ll review your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your plan to ensure it continues to meet your needs and support your overall well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As a PMHNP, I value taking the time to gather a thorough and accurate history from each patient, as it provides essential insight into their current challenges and overall well-being. I focus on understanding what issues are impacting them the most right now—whether emotional, psychological, or situational—so that I can prioritize what truly matters to them. From there, I explore potential lifestyle modifications that could support their mental health, such as improving sleep, nutrition, exercise, or stress management. I also consider whether medication may be beneficial, always discussing options collaboratively with my patient to ensure that treatment decisions align with their goals, values, and comfort level. My goal is to create a personalized, holistic care plan that empowers patients to take an active role in their recovery and ongoing wellness.
