Getting to know Dr. Megan Rhyne-Cousar
Hi, my name is Megan and I'm a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in North Carolina. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia & sleep issues, bipolar disorder, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma. I’ve been in nursing for 14 years and completed my psychiatric training at University of North Carolina-Greensboro. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected and cared for.

PLEASE NOTE, I’M IN-NETWORK WITH AETNA, BCBS, CIGNA, MEDICARE, OSCAR, OXFORD, TRICARE, AND UNITED HEALTHCARE. I DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID.
My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, engagement, and a genuine personal connection. I believe in establishing a strong, collaborative relationship with each client, where we work together to make informed decisions about their treatment. My practice is inclusive and welcoming, embracing diversity in culture, background, and experience. I have worked with a wide range of clients, including students, parents, professionals from various fields, skilled tradespeople, service industry workers, retail employees, entrepreneurs, artists, and technology experts. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space where each individual feels heard, understood, and empowered to achieve their therapeutic goals.
My journey to becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner began while working as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Many of the patients I cared for were struggling with mental health concerns, and I quickly realized how closely mental and physical health are connected. While I was treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders in primary care, I wanted to gain more specialized knowledge and training to ensure I was providing the highest quality care possible.
Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.

If you use your insurance with us, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has.
