Meghann Carvin, LMFTA

Marriage and Family Therapist
WA
I help couples who love each other but feel stuck in the same painful patterns, whether that looks like constant arguing, growing distance, or trying to rebuild trust after betrayal. Many of the couples I work with have tried to fix things on their own and are tired of having the same fight over and over. My goal is to help you understand what's really happening between you and give you practical tools that change how you connect. I've completed Level 2 training in the Gottman Method, and I also draw on Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused approaches. That means we'll look at the stories and patterns shaping your relationship while building real skills you can use at home, not just talk about the problem week after week. Services include: Couples Therapy: Breaking out of conflict cycles and rebuilding friendship, trust, and connection. Premarital Counseling: My Marriage by Design program helps couples build a strong foundation before marriage. Discernment Counseling: Short term support for couples where one or both partners are unsure whether to stay together. Individual Therapy: Support for relationship struggles, life transitions, and the stress and anxiety that come with them. I provide telehealth sessions throughout Washington State. If you're ready to stop repeating the same patterns and start building the relationship you actually want, I'd be glad to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My practice is private pay, which means I don't contract with insurance companies. This allows our work to be guided by your goals rather than by what an insurance plan will approve, without limits on the number of sessions you can have. It also gives you more privacy, since your records aren't shared with or reviewed by an insurance company. I use Thrizer as my payment platform, and if you have out of network benefits, Thrizer can check your estimated coverage and submit eligible claims for you. Reimbursement depends on your plan and on what we identify together during intake, so I'll go over what applies to you once we begin. All sessions are held via telehealth for clients located in Washington State. I believe therapy works best when you feel understood and not judged, so my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, and in couples work, where both partners feel heard.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

1. Intake: For couples, intake takes place over three sessions. In our first session together, we'll go through your history as a couple and talk about what's bringing you in. The next two sessions are individual sessions with each partner, where I'll learn about each of your personal histories and perspectives. For individual clients, intake is one session focused on your history, what you're experiencing now, and your goals for therapy. 2. Your treatment plan: After intake, I'll bring together everything I've learned into a clear plan for our work, and we'll review it together so you know exactly what we're focusing on and why. 3. The work: In ongoing sessions, we'll address the patterns that keep you stuck while building practical tools for communication, conflict, and connection. You'll have things to practice between sessions so the changes carry into your everyday life. 4. Strengthening what's working: As you make progress, we'll focus on reinforcing the new patterns you've built so the changes last, and we'll check in regularly on your goals. 5. Ongoing support: When our regular sessions come to a close, you're always welcome to come back for a check in when life shifts or you want to keep building on your progress.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Ongoing session: $150-200 for 55 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront
