“Dr. Mehri was a sigh of relief after having a recent horrific experience as a new patient with a different psychiatrist. I have been misdiagnosed for 16 years and prescribed incorrect medications which worsened my mental state. Dr. Brown identified what I had already known. While I don't like my diagnosis I have to put trust in the wisdom of a professional and follow the prescribed course of treatment.”

Getting to know Dr. Mehri Brown

I am a seasoned and highly qualified psychiatrist re-entering private practice here to help. I provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, psychotherapy and/or medication management to adults. I understand the greatest needs for the mental health of our community are high-quality diagnostic assessments and medication management. If you already have a psychotherapist but feel it is time to consider medications, I am here to help and will collaborate with your psychotherapist, with your permission. If you do not already have a psychotherapist, I am here to help you figure out your needs, whether it is a brief intervention, a short course of medication to get you back on track, or a longer-term treatment course. I do provide second opinion consultations, as well as clinical supervision. I received both my Bachelor's and Medical degrees from Brown University. I completed general adult residency training at Northwestern University in 2002. I started my career as a faculty member at UCSF but left due to personal circumstances. In addition to a prior full-time private practice, I have experience working in community mental health centers, Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), college mental health, and correctional facilities.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a good listener and a good observer. As a physician, I have the duty to take all information available to diagnose and provide evidence-based treatment. I'm here to support you in reaching achievable goals and provide you with as much education as possible about your condition. I believe that knowledge is power. I also believe that peace of mind can be achieved by learning how to navigate the curveballs that life throws at you. If medications are indicated, I will be judicious. If I am a good fit for you as a therapist, you will find my approach to be eclectic.

I believe Dr. Mehri Brown is an efficient professional. I trust her a lot.
She Is a real human being, she listens. She does not ever make u feel uncomfortable. I am going to see her weekly. Even though I'm paying out of pocket. well worth it
I feel that I just wasted my time with her, I should've looked around for a psychiatrist with a good reputation. I settled with her because she had open appointments within just days instead of weeks like others, and now I know why. Now I'm being seen by a psychiatrist that my friend recommended and she has made a huge difference in my personal life, school, and relationship with my family without any medication. I would advise anyone to do a thorough research when looking for a psychiatrist; it will make a difference between turning your life around or just wasting your time and money. Good luck everyone!
