About Melanie Yovino
Melanie is a New York State licensed speech-language pathologist who received her Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from Hofstra University. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence as recognized by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. Melanie has worked in a variety of settings, including schools, early intervention, and private practices, which has enabled her the opportunity to treat diverse populations from pediatrics through geriatrics. Melanie is PROMPT trained and has experience working with expressive and receptive language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, myofunctional/swallowing disorders, feeding disorders, fluency (stuttering) disorders, and motor planning disorders (apraxia). Melanie also has experience working with children and young adults with various intellectual disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome) and implementing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (PECS, Proloquo2go, Touch Chat).

I have no complaints at all about the provider; my issue is with the system (Zocdoc, apparently) that resulted in my expecting that I had made an appointment for evaluation for speech therapy and finding that instead I had been scheduled for a 15-minute meet-and-greet that produced no actual benefit and was, in effect, wasted time.
If that's an inflexible feature of the system or your office policy, I should at least have been informed of that in advance. I re-organized my schedule and set aside sufficient time for a real appointment and am not happy to have had my time handled that way.
