Getting to know Melissa A Maxwell
I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. I strive to create a collaborative relationship with my clients. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship begins with understanding my clients as they see themselves and the goals they have for themselves. This understanding allows for an individualized treatment plan to be created, which may include medication management, motivational interviewing, and brief supportive therapy to address my clients' needs. I believe that the best treatment outcomes are found in a multidisciplinary approach; therefore, I often encourage my patients to consider combined treatment with therapists.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I provide medication management for ages 15 and older. My specialty areas include addiction, anger management, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), seasonal affective disorder (SAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder, and bipolar disorders. I look forward to working with you to meet your mental health goals.
