“Was nervous for my appointment as it was my first- but once I saw my provider (Melissa W) my nerves subsided quite a bit. She was very welcoming, her tone and reassurance was super helpful in calming my anxiousness. We spoke about an array of things that I feel have an impact on my stress, anxiety, and depression. She has prescribed me some medication and I am anxious (in a good way) to see how/if this medication will work. I am looking forward to my next appointment and my continued care through Melissa and Mentus Health.”

Getting to know Melissa Werthmann

Hi, I’m Melissa Werthmann, PMHNP, and I’m dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care in a warm, supportive, and judgment-free environment. I believe mental health care should feel approachable and personalized, and I strive to create a space where patients feel comfortable, heard, and understood from the very first appointment. I am known for my kind, personable, and approachable style, helping patients feel at ease while receiving professional, evidence-based mental health treatment. Many patients describe sessions as conversational and supportive, while still focused on creating meaningful progress and long-term emotional wellness. I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions. I work with children, adolescents and adults experiencing symptoms such as overthinking, panic attacks, difficulty focusing, low motivation, irritability, emotional dysregulation, and challenges with self-esteem or daily functioning. My approach combines medication management, supportive therapy, and individualized treatment planning tailored to each patient’s unique needs and goals. I take time to listen, understand each person’s experiences, and collaborate on realistic strategies that support emotional balance, improved coping skills, and overall mental wellness. My goal is for every patient to leave appointments feeling supported, empowered, and more confident in navigating life’s challenges while building healthier habits, stronger resilience, and lasting emotional well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I prioritize creating a warm, supportive, and judgment-free environment where they feel comfortable being themselves and openly discussing their concerns. I believe strong therapeutic relationships are the foundation of effective mental health care, and I take time to truly listen, understand each patient’s unique experiences, and collaborate on personalized treatment plans. My approach is compassionate, approachable, and evidence-based. I work with children, adolescents, and adults managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress, emotional dysregulation, behavioral concerns, and major life transitions. Appointments are designed to feel supportive and conversational while remaining focused on meaningful progress and practical solutions. I combine medication management, psychoeducation, and supportive therapy techniques to help patients and families build healthy coping skills, improve emotional wellness, and feel more confident navigating daily challenges. My goal is for every client to feel heard, supported, empowered, and actively involved in their care throughout the treatment process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process begins with a comprehensive initial evaluation where I take time to understand your concerns, symptoms, history, and goals for treatment. This first appointment is also an opportunity to build rapport, answer questions, and ensure you feel comfortable and supported. After the initial assessment, we collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan based on your needs. This may include medication management, psychoeducation, and supportive therapeutic strategies tailored to conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, behavioral concerns, and stress-related challenges. For children and adolescents, I also incorporate family input and developmental considerations to ensure a well-rounded approach to care. Follow-up visits are focused on monitoring progress, adjusting treatment as needed, and addressing any ongoing symptoms or concerns. I prioritize open communication, shared decision-making, and ongoing collaboration so that you feel actively involved in your care. Over time, we work toward building coping skills, improving emotional stability, and supporting long-term mental wellness. My goal is to provide consistent, compassionate care that helps each client feel supported, empowered, and confident in their progress.
