About Dr. Menyoli Malafa
Menyoli Michael Malafa, MD, is an exceptional plastic and reconstructive surgery specialist at Los Angeles Orthopedic Surgery Specialists, with offices in East Los Angeles, Wilshire, Santa Fe Springs, Pico Rivera, Tarzana, Encino, Valencia, and Montebello, California. Dr. Malafa received his undergraduate degree in biology at Stanford University in California. He graduated medical school with honors from the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine in 2011. From there, he moved on to the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, where he completed his hand surgery residency. Finding hand surgery particularly interesting, Dr. Malafa moved to California to complete a fellowship in hand surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. Having more than nine years of diverse experience, especially in plastic and reconstructive surgery and hand surgery, Dr. Malafa performs all surgical hand procedures, including fracture repair, joint replacement, nerve, and tendon repair. He has vast experience in successful non-operative and rehabilitative treatment techniques that avoid surgery. He treats all patients, both young and old, with varied backgrounds, including the injured worker, non-athlete, and athlete, and takes pride in treating each patient as an individual and tailoring care to their specific needs and complaints. Waited over an hour for my appt, no updates from the front desk, had to ask the reception twice and they finally told me that they are backed up and won’t be able to see me for another 20 min or so, which is almost 2 hours past my scheduled appt time. Paid for parking too, absolute waste of time.

Office called day before appointment to change appointment time by two hours because DR can’t show on time. Then I show up at requested time and I get my xray and sat waiting for 30 mins with staff walking by and no one said anything until I later found out the dr is running late and I will have to wait even longer and am sent back to a packed waiting room.

This doctor is rare. He was actually a human and a good one. He was patient and thorough. He gave eye contact when he spoke and as he was listening. He made my 13 year old son feel safe and unafraid.
I am honestly so amazed at how good the experience overall was. I had been given the run around by so many other places that I was frustrated by the time I made it to the office but the energy of every single person we were in contact with was so amazingly refreshing that it even changed my mood.
