About Dr. Mercedes Florez-White

Dr. Mercedes Florez-White is a nationally and internationally recognized dermatologist, especially for her work on pigmentation in patients of Latin American ancestry and her publications on acne and rosacea. She is also a leader in the dermo-cosmetic area and is deeply committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care that addresses both the medical and emotional needs of her patients. Originally from Colombia, she received her training and degree as Doctor in Medicine and Surgery at the Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia. She then completed an internship in General Medicine at the Hospital San Ignacio in Bogotá and her residency in Dermatology at the Hospital das Clinicas from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, where she began her studies on pigmentation. She also holds an MBA in management of medical centers. Dr. Florez-White is currently an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Florida International University College of Medicine, where she directs the Dermatology Unit. Over her more than 40-year career, Dr. Florez-White has participated in numerous research projects and has authored over fifty publications in peer-reviewed journals and medical books. She currently sees patients at Hollywood Dermatology’s Pembroke Pines location, where she provides comprehensive dermatologic care for individuals across a wide range of ages. Her services include general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, delivered with personalized attention and a strong focus on long-term skin health.
