Mercedes Gibbons is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over ten years of experience in mental health. Most of her experience is in crisis stabilization management in inpatient settings for adults and children. She also has experience in outpatient settings with medication treatment and management.
Over time, working in both hospice care and mental health, she discovered her true calling and decided to practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She attended Florida SouthWestern State College (formerly Edison State College) in Fort Myers, Florida, where she obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing and Associate of Arts degrees. One year later, she attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She then pursued her Master of Science in Nursing in Family Psychiatry at the University of South Alabama, where she was also board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Mercedes takes pride in serving others. She enjoys new adventures, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She finds herself naturally supportive of others, encouraging them to achieve their goals and live their dreams.

I’ve been seeing Mercedes for just about a year; she is a phenomenal psychiatrist and person. I’ve had visits both in person and via video, and in both instances she has been an invaluable resource for maintaining my mental health. She has a firm understanding of what medications work best for which people, as well as understanding the nuances of prescribing medicines; eg, avoiding dirty drugs like Paxil and other poorly reviewed medications. 10/10 couldn’t recommend any more highly!

I have have bipolar disorder and Mercedes has been a blessing in my journey to recovery and stability. She listens to what you’re saying and truly cares. If you want someone who’s more than a doctor Mercedes is your girl. Being a nurse practitioner gives her a whole different perspective on care without lacking her knowledge for mental health. I highly recommend her.

Mrs. Mercedes Gibbons was one of the nicest most professional doctor I've ever met. I felt very comfortable talking with her. She made my transition with my medication very simple and explained everything in detail to me. I would highly recommend her to anyone. After the first few minutes of talking with her I felt like I was just talking to one of my friends. She is very easy to talk to. Again I highly recommend her. She is a great doctor and like I said to her... she picked the right profession because she has her heart in this profession!
