About Dr. Michael Barkin
Dr. Michael Barkin is a podiatrist treating patients in Valley Stream, New York, and in the surrounding communities. He holds certification from the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He is also affiliated with Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream.
In order to pursue his podiatric education, Dr. Barkin attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. He continued his medical education through postgraduate residency training programs in podiatric surgery. Dr. Barkin is now active in teaching podiatric residency students in hospital settings, himself.

I originally was a patient of Dr. Barkin during the 1990s as a result of having flat feet and issues with my extremities following my childhood injury when I was a pedestrian struck by an automobile. In high school, I repeatedly ruptured and reinjured my achilles tendon usually during physical education. My profile as a patient is atypical because I have a depressed skull fracture to my left forehead as it occurred from neurosurgery Yale University of Neurosurgery caused when they electively without 2nd or 3rd opinions peformed high risk neurosurgery on me when I was very young, and they produced the effect of my skull that changed throughout childhood into adulthood to where I am a middle aged adult affected from having a permanent and serious injury. This skull defect has caused neuropathy and my feet utlimately collapsed and Dr. Barkin knew this might happen and warned me back then in the 90s, but I moved to Phoenix, Arizona and doctors here are like pulling hens teeth to treat.

Receptionist was incredibly warm and friendly in her interaction with me and other patients. Waiting and examination rooms were very clean. Doctor Barkin was warm friendly as well and an attentive listener. Doctor visits always make me nervous but I felt totally at ease at this establishment.

There was a mix up with my appointment and I was not scheduled for the day I arrived. However, the staff made sure I was able to be seen anyway. I had plantar fasciitis. Dr. Barkin explained everything to me thoroughly. I’m an athlete and I work on my feet all night, so his reassurance that it would get better was great. He measured my foot and took scans in order to provide custom insoles and, I don’t think I can ever live without them now! I even use them when I exercise and they have helped me improve a great deal with weight lifting. He does not rush you and he’s patient. He did not seem agitated with my many questions (and I ask a lot of questions). I highly recommend him.

Dr. Barkin is the best Podiatrist ever. My Foot Fungus was cleared within 6 months and my nails were grown out brand new and beautifully. He is extremely polite and a very funny man. Overall he makes the visit very fun and educational and his staff are very helpful as well
