About Michael Currier

Michael is a gastrointestinal (GI) physician assistant, clinically-trained in gastroenterology at Mass General Hospital in Boston. With more than 15 years of experience, he diagnoses and treats all GI conditions, with a specialty in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. This provider's Primary Supervising Physician is Chet Allen Tharpe Prior to joining Oshi Health, Michael helped build the Crohn’s and Colitis Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he served as a patient provider and the associate director of program development for their multidisciplinary IBD clinic. He then went on to help lead the first inpatient GI advanced practice provider program at UMass Medical Center. An active member of the IBD community, Michael was awarded the Honored Hero Award by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation in 2014. He also has spoken at many of their patient and family symposia, and most recently spoke at the IBD 2020 conference regarding the need for a patient-centered approach to improving quality of care for people with Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. Michael is a former professional musician (saxophone and vocals) and an avid foodie, chef, and gardener who loves Mel Brooks movies, old school R&B, Jazz, and original NY Salsa.
