About Dr. Michael DiGiovanna

Michael J. DiGiovanna, D.O., CPI, is board-certified in Family Practice. He sees patients aged 3 and older for sick visits and patients aged 10 and older for wellness visits. Dr. DiGiovanna received his Bachelor of Science degree from the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY, in 1982, graduating summa cum laude and serving as class valedictorian. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY, in 1987, after completing an undergraduate fellowship specializing in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine under the mentorship of Stanley Schiowitz, D.O. He completed his rotating internship at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, in 1988. He is a Certified Physician Investigator in clinical research and has been the Principal Investigator in over 350 clinical trials. Currently, he serves as Senior Medical Director of Research & Development at ALTuCELL, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on finding cures for Type 1 diabetes mellitus and several neurodegenerative conditions. Dr. DiGiovanna has chaired Family Practice Departments at multiple institutions, served on the board of directors for the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society, and was the Osteopathic representative to the New York State Medicare Carriers Advisory Committee for many years. He is the author of numerous publications, including *An Osteopathic Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment.* Prior to joining NY Health, Dr. DiGiovanna joined the DiGiovanna Family Health & Wellness Center, continuing the Osteopathic and Family Practice tradition established by his parents.

The staff at NY Health is doing the best that is possible to discuss matters with "little" Meghan, "little" Katie, little "AJ Lee" about appropriate conduct for LPNs. Little Meghan has been very successful in whimpering about having to wash her hands. I am not giving her any recommendations for more food service work until she practices better sanitation - that includes the "Hyacinth Gray" classes. Big Corina or Cameron or Carole decided to let nepotism override professionalism in this matter. Now, we have a patient who has 3 years of conditioning and reinforcement to get back to a healthy diet after 2 years at an assisted living center where there were lots of sugary treats and snacks and not much activity. AJ Lee is actually an LPN, however, she is not an LPN 24/7, she is a human being not a machine. She is on vacation. Her employer did not want me to have the medication list, thus, Nurse Gerda did not get a medication list. Moreover, Dr. Digiovanna's office does not have the list.
