About Dr. Michael Lupa
Dr. Lupa is a highly trained, board certified otolaryngologist with additional training in sinus surgery and allergy treatment as well as advanced skull base surgery. He studied Biology at Tufts University and went on to complete medical school at Case Western University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed a residency in otolaryngology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. After residency, Dr. Lupa underwent an additional year of training in sinus and skull base surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with national leaders in the field. A native of New York, Dr. Lupa is pleased to be back on the east coast after three years as head of Rhinology and Skull base Surgery at Kaiser Permanente serving most of Northern California. He has published numerous book chapters and articles in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Lupa treats a full range of ear nose and throat disorders. His special interests include allergy, medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the sinuses, thyroid and parathyroid disease, sleep apnea as well as pediatric otolaryngology.

The doctor showed zero curiosity when I explained my symptoms (continuous ear pain for over 6 months, alongside with a significant sensitivity to sound). He asked no questions, literally none. Looked in my ear and said it had no buildup, and then suggested a hearing test - they had no audiologist there to perform one though.
I spent 45 minutes in the waiting room, 2 minutes (no joke) with the doctor, and then another 25 minutes with the receptionist trying to schedule a hearing test. Out of the hour and 12 minutes I spent there, 2 minutes were with the provider.
As I was scheduling the follow up, the thought in my mind was "why bother, I need a doctor that actually cares". Anyhow, I'm now looking for a new provider instead.

Dr Lupa was great! Very professional, knowledgeable, and caring. Listened to what I wanted to share. There was some kind of emergency which delayed my seeing him until almost 50 minutes past my appointment time. I am hoping that is an unusual situation, as that is not something I want to repeat.

Did not think it was worth my time or money. Will not be coming back. They charged an insane amount of money for one visit where I was seen for 5 minutes after a long wait. In the end was basically brushed me off as needing more optional tests and to go to different places for said tests. No diagnosis or plan besides me going elsewhere .
