About Dr. Michael Pizzillo
Dr. Pizzillo specializes in shoulder surgery as well as hand and upper extremity surgery. His expertise includes arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repairs, along with traditional open shoulder surgery. He also performs both arthroscopic and open procedures on the elbow and wrist. His practice focuses on sports injuries of the shoulder and upper extremity, addressing complex rotator cuff pathology in both active and mature patients. His specialty training in shoulder surgery also covers the treatment of arthritic conditions of the shoulder joint, offering patients the latest options in joint replacement.
Dr. Pizzillo earned his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at New York University Medical Center. From start to finish my experience with Dr Pizzillo and his lovely staff was excellent! The check in staff as well as the check out staff were very friendly and efficient. My nursing assistant was incredibly friendly and thorough. My X-ray technicians were friendly and kind, always taking care when adjusting each position to not cause any discomfort.
Dr Pizzillo is a tentative listener and took his time with me to talk through my symptoms. He was thorough and get knowledgeable. He explained in detail my options giving me suggestions on how to proceed with treatment. Exceptional experience with him and his staff!

Dr. Pizzillo didn’t really listen to what I had to say and basically told me I had tendinitis & there’s nothing he could do for my finger except give me another Cortizone shot which I didn’t really want. I wanted an ultrasound or MRI to actually see what was wrong with my hand since this happened to me last year too because I had a cyst between my index finger & palm. He told me no and said if the Cortizone shot doesn’t work again, then he’ll do a nerve test.
Then he sent my medication to the wrong pharmacy after I literally told him that was not my pharmacy but sent it regardless of what I said. So make sure your info is updated because you’ll have to tell them 100x before they actually update you in the system even if you’ve never been directly to that specific office. Apparently they had my old info because I went to someone in englewood health as a child lol.
I don’t recommend seeing this provider unless you want to be ignored/gaslit.

Dr. Pizzzillo was the third hand specialist I've seen and the only one to have recommended stretching exercises to alleviate my issue. He is professional, communicative and has a warm personable manner. Highly recommend him. His office is amazing. Very clean, modern, -- so well organized.
