Michael Stempel, DPM is the Chief of the Division of Podiatry, an Assistant Professor of Medicine, an Assistant Professor of Surgery, and the Director of Podiatry Center.

Second visit. First several years ago for work up of painful ankle. Test results showed major arthritic damage from poorly healed fracture. He was clear and caring in giving me the bad news.
Today I saw him for painful toe post plantar wart removal and toe fungus. Provided treatment and recommendations that were logical and easy to follow short and long term.

Mike Stempel is a patient centered superstar and has received awards within the institution for his exceptional patient care. Manipulate my shoes then touch my feet. Put my shoes on the chair where patient seat. No need to be a rocket scientist to understand that this is not hygienic.

Dr. Stempel was approachable and explained everything to me in detail. He gave me two options for my blue toe nail and I chose to have it removed. He injected some local anesthesia which was so effective,I did not feel a thing. I am happy I went to him

Dr. Stempel was great! He was straightforward and encouraging, and had clear explanations and answers to questions about a broken foot. There was even a sense of humor peeking through, to lighten the mood. While no one wants to see the Dr, he made the visit pleasant. As an aside, the check-in staff and various assistants on my visit were decidedly mixed (from entirely unhelpful--asking me on crutches to carry something, to terrific--skillfully explaining the air cast and next steps).

Somehow, the office did not have my mom's appointment and the assistant/nurse was angry and treated my mom poorly. She put the blood pressure cuff on my mother's wrist. The doctor seemed disgusted, too. I don't know if he had planned to leave early or what.

I really like that Dr. Stempel doesn't recommend unnecessary surgeries or unnecessary treatment. I don't like doctors who seem to want to make the patient spend a lot of money on unnecessary things. Dr. Stempel is also very knowledgeable. I like his conservative approach.
