Was able to see me quickly due to her amazingly convenient office hours. Explained very patiently what was going on with my foot, and gave me a care treatment that I hope works out for my issue!

I can't recommend Dr. Roy highly enough--he's kind, thorough, and exudes both authority and compassion. I won't bring my feet to anyone else.

Dr. Kim is a very knowledgeable, professional and efficient doctor who also have a great bedside manner. I came in and was able to get both an X-ray and MRI down the hall. I would highly recommend Dr. Kim and the office to any athlete dealing with an injury! (HR)

New York Podiatrists

Your feet are a significant part of your body, yet they often get ignored. When a foot-related problem occurs, you need a podiatrist. A podiatrist, or foot and ankle specialist, is a physician who specializes in diagnosing and treating abnormalities of the foot, ankle and lower limbs. They hold a degree known as Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM).

There is a wide scope of problems that are addressed by a foot and ankle doctor, namely ingrown toenails, flat feet, sports injuries, bunions and athlete's foot. Apart from these, podiatrists are qualified to relieve pain, manage a person’s ability to walk, correct deformities and treat infections. Certain conditions like diabetes and arthritis can lead to foot problems, as well.

When should you visit a podiatrist?

Your feet carry your entire body weight and so it is not uncommon to experience foot-related problems. These are some of the most prominent indicators of a podiatric condition:

  • Signs of infection
  • Numbness or tingling sensation in your feet
  • Being unable to put your body weight on a foot
  • Having diabetes
  • Persistent pain that hasn’t reduced in a few days

Tips for your visit to a podiatrist

  • Write down your symptoms and questions beforehand so that you don’t forget them.
  • Discuss any medications you may be on or allergies if any.
  • Bring results of all tests done in the recent past.
  • Be sure to check whether your visit is covered by your insurance provider.
  • Ask questions and make sure you understand your diagnosis and treatment plan.
