About Dr. Michael Traub

Both of my parents are healthcare providers; my dad is an Oral Surgeon and my mom is a nurse. When I was young, my dad would take me and my brothers rounding with him at the hospital, but somehow I was the only one who thought this was really cool. As I grew up, I studied Biology at Colorado College and continued in graduate school. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from St. George's University School of Medicine, then completed my internship and residency in Family Medicine at Centra Health in Lynchburg. I still carry my enthusiasm for the culture of medicine today.
I love Family Medicine because I work, at least to some extent, in every field of medicine. This allows me to be as useful to my patients as possible and to better navigate the healthcare system. Furthermore, I always strive to develop trusting personal connections with my patients.
I believe my job is to help my patients have a healthy and enjoyable life, and I always work side by side with everyone I see to accomplish this. I do my best to educate my patients on their care, and above all else, I make sure they are comfortable with their care plans.
Most of my hobbies involve the outdoors. I love hiking, camping, skiing, and kayaking. I’m also an avid hockey fan and dog owner. Additionally, I enjoy photography, cooking, and baking.
I always encourage my patients to do their best to stay active daily, whether that means getting outside (like I do), having an exercise schedule, or even working around the house.
