Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
WA
Taking care of your mental health is an important step toward feeling more like yourself, and you deserve a provider who takes the time to listen and understand your unique experience. I’m Michelle Zapinski, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and I’m passionate about helping individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their mental health journey. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Alverno College in Wisconsin and have experience providing psychiatric care to individuals from diverse backgrounds and across a variety of clinical settings. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and focused on you as a whole person—not simply a diagnosis or collection of symptoms. I take time to understand your mental health history, current challenges, life experiences, and the goals that matter most to you. Together, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan that feels realistic, comfortable, and aligned with your needs. Depending on your individual needs, treatment may include medication management, supportive therapeutic interventions, cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, lifestyle recommendations, and coordination with other specialists when appropriate. Above all, I strive to create a warm, judgment-free environment where you can speak openly and feel confident that your concerns are being taken seriously. My goal is to help you not only experience relief from symptoms, but also develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and confidence in managing your mental health. I look forward to partnering with you as you take the next step toward improved mental health and overall well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is a collaborative process. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and being honest about what is or isn’t working for you. You know yourself and your experiences best, and I believe your voice should be an important part of every treatment decision we make together. I take the time to listen and understand the bigger picture—not just your symptoms, but also how your mental health is affecting your relationships, work, daily life, and overall well-being. My role is to provide clinical guidance, education, and thoughtful recommendations while helping you feel informed and empowered in your care. You can expect a warm, respectful, and judgment-free environment with open communication and realistic goals. Treatment may include medication management, supportive therapeutic strategies, lifestyle recommendations, or coordination with other providers when appropriate. Most importantly, we’ll regularly evaluate your progress and adjust your treatment as your needs evolve. My goal is for you to leave our visits feeling heard, supported, and clear about the next steps in your care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with getting to know you as a whole person. During our first visit, we’ll discuss what brought you to care, your mental and physical health history, current symptoms, previous treatments, and what you hope to achieve. I want to understand not only what you’re experiencing, but also how it is affecting your daily life, relationships, work, and overall well-being. From there, we’ll work together to develop a personalized treatment plan based on your needs, preferences, and goals. This may include medication management, supportive therapeutic strategies, lifestyle recommendations, or collaboration with other healthcare professionals when appropriate. I’ll explain my recommendations and treatment options so you feel informed and comfortable participating in decisions about your care. During follow-up visits, we’ll check in on your progress, discuss what is or isn’t working, and make adjustments as needed. I view treatment as an ongoing partnership rather than a one-size-fits-all process. My goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care while creating a supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful progress.
