Marriage and Family Therapist
8 S Michigan Ave, Ste 2300, Chicago, IL
My approach to therapy involves a humanistic, integrative style that utilizes my clients’ strengths and determination for wanting to improve their overall well-being. Taking the first step and deciding to begin therapy can be difficult and scary, but I believe it demonstrates courage and resiliency. With the client’s strengths being the foundation of our therapeutic work, I aim to create a collaborative, calming, unique, and creative atmosphere. I believe therapy is the client’s personal space to develop new skills, persevere through obstacles, and heal their internal wounds. I use a multicultural lens during therapy and aim to help clients achieve the goals they bring with them. I also utilize a mixture of theories and models to tailor to my clients’ needs, as I believe there is no “one way” or “right way” to achieve growth. This includes but is not limited to: play therapy, DBT, emotion focused therapy, grief work, mindfulness practices, intergenerational theory, narrative therapy, and many others. I specialize in working with children ages 5 – 12, adolescents, families, and individuals of all ages. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University. I have a background in social services which involved working with chronically mentally ill adults as well as foster care youth. I also was a master’s fellow for the Minority Fellowship Program, where their focus is to reduce health disparities and improve behavioral health care outcomes for racial and ethnic populations.

What should a new client know about working with you?

This space is for you as my client, so our work together will be tailored to you and your needs. At times it may feel challenging and other times it may feel fun. I will collaborate with you throughout the process, as I believe you are the driver determining our destination and I am simply the guide in the passenger seat. My goal in every session is to create the unique space your are hoping for.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will engage in various forms of therapy, once goals and a treatment plan is established in the assessment phase.
